Area Rugs. They are those things we walk on, wipe your feet on, sit on, and never think twice about. Well at least that is the way that I first viewed them. It was not until we moved to our first home that I realized how wrong I was. Our house built in the 1960's and in relatively good shape with carpets throughout. We pulled those carpets out one day and discovered beautiful hardwood floors. We were ecstatic. Our furniture would look great on those floors. But one we set our stuff in each room - you could see right away something was missing. The room looked so empty, lacked warmth, color and softness. Looking at some decorating magazines we saw that each picture had an area rug of some kind in it. That is when we started looking into area rugs more seriously. What we found was an amazing way to decorate and change the ambiance of a room quickly and easily : and was something that would fit our budget.

As we journeyed into the world of area rugs, we soon discovered how vast that world was. Area rugs can come in a variety of sizes, shapes, designs, hand made or manufactured, and a large variety of materials. There was an endless possibility depending on how what type of mood we wanted our room to take on from classic to modern or contemporary. So the information we collected was starting to build up on our coffee table as we tried to decide what would work for each room. And this information is what you are seeing on this website. We wanted to share it with our friends and family, and also you : our visitor. Because that is one thing that we found in our hunt for information on area rugs - it was easy to find a lot of places to buy area rugs, but not a lot to explain why a shape and size and make worked well in one room, but yet in another of the same size, there was a better rug suited due to it's versatility and the wear and tear factor. So we decided to build this information site to help others in understanding the beautiful world of area rugs.

So we hope that you find our area rug website useful and informative. And though we have tried to cover everything we thought would be useful to our visitors, we are sure there are hundreds of questions still unanswered out there. But everywhere we go we automatically check out the area rugs on the floor or hanging on the wall, and so we are continually researching and learning what works in a room.
